Weekend Horse Racing Betting Preview

Worth a closer look…

In this weekly horse racing preview the ThoroughbredNEWS team take a fresh look at the form ahead of the weekend’s domestic and international action. We hope to get a good run for our money, the experts certainly are of the opinion that they’ve unearthed some interesting points of view and as such these…

Rosehill Race 3 – 12:10pm Midway Handicap (1100m)

ZULFIQAR was given the benefit of the doubt by James Cummings on more than one accession when this ex-Godolphin galloper was racing for the ‘Men in Blue’. Now with Richard Litt, the son of Exceed And Excel should be monitored closely to determine whether or not he still has an appetite for racing. Zulfiqar has been a very promsiing galloper on his day and after just 11 career starts, a renewed enthusiasm for the racing caper might on the horizon.

Eagle Farm Race 7 – 3:13pm Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m)

KIMOCHI is a very, very good racemare drawn to advantage in this high-class contest. Though beaten out of sight at her latest outing, the 4-year-old drew off the track and was used up early in a performance that is arguably best forgotten. The Gary Portelli-trained galloper has since won a barrier trial and shouldn’t be under-estimated in this red-hot assignment. She should be fighting out the finish if anywhere near her best.

Caulfield Race 9 – 4:35pm Darren Gauci Handicap (1200m)

CAFE MILLENIUM is a fascinating runner in Melbourne this weekend having spent all of his time in racing thus far with John O’Shea at Randwick. What do they say about a change is as good as a rest. Now with the Hayes Bros at Lindsay Park, the lightly-raced son of Not a Single Doubt is worth following as he starts the new phase of his high-profile career, having caught everyone’s imagination with his memorable debut victory. It’s only fair to suggest that there’s possibly more wins in store with his change of surroundings.
