Race History

Formerly known as the George Main Stakes before being rebranded, the race was renamed to honour King Charles III following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. With a significant prize pool and strong field depth, the King Charles III Stakes quickly established itself as a top mile race in the spring, attracting many of the country’s best gallopers and serving as a launching pad into other Group 1 contests.
