This race has been won by some of Australia’s most brilliant sprinters. In 2024 Southport Tycoon sprung something of a surprise win under trainer Ciaron Maher.

Previous Winners of the Manikato Stakes

In 2023, Imperatriz dazzled under lights with a blistering win, while Bella Nipotina stormed home in 2022. Jonker led all the way to victory in 2021, and the powerful Loving Gaby scored in 2020 as a three-year-old filly.

Other Winners

Earlier winners include heavyweights like Chautauqua, Buffering, Lankan Rupee, and Miss Andretti, all of whom left a lasting mark on Australian sprinting. The race continues to deliver drama, speed, and star power, making it one of the must-watch events of the carnival. It should be on your bucket list to go at least once!

Odds & Tips for the Manikato Stakes

Lady Shenandoah is the one that has been backed early in betting and is currently about $2.30. Given the form of Chris Waller’s mares in Group races this season it would be hard to go against his runner here adding to his list of winners. James McDonald is on board so you can be sure that this will continue to be backed on race day too.

Also in the market is Magic Time who won when first out this season and has a strong second up record, Alambama Lass and Baraqiel have also been supported during the week and should make this a cracking renewal but it is hard to look beyond Lady Shenandoah who is our experts best bet on the Friday card.
