The race has prize money of $1.5m and in recent years has seen some high-profile winners including former Everest winner Giga Kick claiming victory in 2023. The last horse to win the race back-to-back was Rough Habit in 1992 and 1993.

This year’s renewal looks set to be an absolute cracker on the back of Briasa’s win in the TJ Smith on Day One of The Championships. The results altered the market which now looks something like these some 10 days out… Briasa $3.70 Jimmystar $4.50 Joliestar $6 Autumn Glow, $8.

Last year’s winner Magic Time is $11 to follow up and win again with other fancies in the market including Broadsiding and last year’s fourth-placed finisher Sunshine in Paris also at $10. Stefi Magnetica who took out the Doncaster Mile for Bjorn Baker is into $9.

Tips for the All Aged Stakes

The Pickabookie.com.au early selection is Jimmysstar. After a stunning first up the Ciaron Maher-trained runner got too far back when favourite in the William Reid at Moonee Valley and despite a late surge could only finish third.

With a preference to be ridden quietly and pick up late the extra 200 metres could make all the difference and with form on soft ground and having won previously when third up there are plenty of reasons to get behind the pick. Having finished 4th in the TJ Smith over 1200m having sat right off the pace, there is plenty of reasons to think he is due a win.
