What is The Australian Oaks 2025?

The Australian Oaks is a Group 1 horse race held in Sydney, Australia, as part of The Championships during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. It is one of the major events for three-year-old fillies (female horses) and is run over 2400 meters (which is about 1 1/2 miles). The race is held at Royal Randwick Racecourse in April and is considered one of the top staying races for fillies in Australia. The race was first run in 1885 and was won by Uralla, it now has a prize pool worth $1million AUD.

Recent Winners

The winners of the Australian Oaks in recent years are Autumn Angel (2024), Pennyweka (2023), El Patroness (2022), Hungry Heart (2021), Colette (2020), and in 2019 the impressive Verry Elleegant made a statement of her quality in winning the race and what a career she went on to have!

Some interesting stats about the Australian Oaks… trainer Bart Cummings won it seven times, and TJ Smith had six victories. Tips for the Australian Oaks

Looking for some value, the Pickabookie.com.au early selection is the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Dominetta. Hoping she goes to the Oaks as opposed to the Queen of the Turf on Day Two of The Championships, you can expect to see an improved performance from the filly stepping up to 2400m. At $31 that appears to be a great price to have an each way bet.
