The Golden Slipper 2025 Preview
What is the Golden Slipper?
The Golden Slipper was first raced in 1957 and is a key part of the Australian Turf Club’s Autumn Racing Carnival. It’s earned itself a reputation as one of the most exciting and highly anticipated two-year-old races in the world.
The race is run over 1,200 metres, or 6 furlongs as some still refer to it, and attracts the best young horses from around Australia and New Zealand. Winning the Golden Slipper is a massive achievement, and the race’s prestige is clear from the calibre of horses that compete.
It’s also a huge event with thousands of Aussies heading out to Sydney’s west as trainers, owners, punters and fashionistas enjoy a thrilling day of racing and entertainment at Rosehill Gardens.
