What is The Provincial-Midway Championships Final 2025?

The Provincial-Midway Championships Final is a ripper of a race for horses trained in the provincial regions of New South Wales and the Midway category. It is held on day two of The Championships at Royal Randwick as part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. It is the grand final after a series of the Provincial and Midway qualifiers around the state and has a prize pool of $1million AUD.

Race History

The race is run over 1400 metres and provides an opportunity for horses, trainer and owners from these regional and Midway areas to compete at a high level in front of a large metropolitan audience. It was first run in 2015 and last year Last year, Zac Lloyd rode Territory Express to victory in the race for trainer Paul Niceforo. Trainer Kris Lees has been the most successful in the 10 years which the race has been run with five winners including Spangler, Kinloch, Cristal Breeze, Serene Miss and Danish Twist.

Latest Betting Odds

At the time of reviewing the futures market for the race the following runners were the only one quoted in single figure odds: Matcha Latte $4.50, Lord of Biscay at $7.00, Well Timed at $7.00, and Welcometobarbados at $8.00. Of those at longer odds there are two Kris Lees runners namely Imposant at $26 and former winner Spangler at $41.
