What is the Queen Elizabeth Stakes?
The Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick is one of, if not, the feature race during the Sydney Autumn Carnival. Run over 2000 metres, it’s a weight-for-age race that brings the best horses from around Australia and from overseas to compete in Sydney.
It is held on Day Two of The Championships, which this year is April 12th, 2025. The race was first run in 1851 and now has prize money of $AU 5million.

The recent editions of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick have been one that racing fans have been thrilled by. Last year, Pride of Jenni went the best part of 35 lengths clear and destroyed the field winning by over 6 lengths. Other which are fancied presently include Ceolwulf at $7, Dubai Honour $10, Buckaroo, Atishu, Broadsiding, Fangirl and Alligator Blood all at $15.00.
