The race is traditionally held at Eagle Farm Racecourse, though it’s occasionally moved to Doomben in recent years due to the upgrade to the track.

The race is specifically for three-year-old fillies and is run over 2,200 metres. 

Recent Winners 

In 2024, Socks Nation took the win with Ryan Maloney in the saddle for trainer Ciaron Maher. She started from barrier 9 and got the job done. The year before, in 2023, Amokura claimed the Oaks under legendary jockey Damien Oliver. It was a notable win from barrier 1, and she was trained by Kris Lees.

Other Famous Winners

Gypsy Goddess was the 2022 winner, coming all the way from New Zealand. William Pike rode her from a tough gate 18, and she was trained by David Vandyke. In 2021, Duais won for Edward Cummings with Hugh Bowman riding, who had also partnered with the famous Winx.

Queensland Oaks Legends

Winx famously won the Oaks back in 2015, before going on to dominate Australian racing for years. She was trained by Chris Waller, who also trained multiple Oaks winners, including Youngstar (2018) and Egg Tart (2017).

It usually takes place in early June and is part of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
